Dr. BRETT W FISCHER

Dr. Fischer is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio.  He received his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Arizona State University in 1988.  He attended medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and graduated in 1993.  Dr Fischer completed a surgical internship year at the University of Nebraska.  He later completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Creighton University/University of Nebraska Health Foundation combined orthopaedic surgery program in 1998.

Post graduate training included a year fellowship in Sports Medicine and Adult Joint Reconstruction.  His fellowship was through the University of Texas at San Antonio.  During that year, Dr. Fischer was able to participate in the care of athletes from many levels including professional athletes like the San Antonio Spurs.

During residency and fellowship Dr. Fischer has written and published articles in peer reviewed orthopaedic journals.  He has also given presentations at several national conferences.

He is currently on staff at the Fremont Area Medical Center and serves on several committees there.  He also enjoys participating in the care of student athletes from many local high schools.  He is the team physician for Midland Lutheran College and Fremont High School.

Dr. Fischer is a Diplomat of the National board of Medical examiners and is licensed to practice medicine in Nebraska and Texas.  He is board certified by the American board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.  Dr. Fischer is on local and state orthopaedic and medical societies and has served as the president on the state orthopaedic society from 2003 - 2005.

Dr. Fischer and his wife, Kris, reside in Fremont.  They moved to Fremont in 1999 with their two children, Lauren and Michael.  He enjoys spending much of his spare time with his family.
